Birth of a New Dharma

Welcome to the Birth of a new Mars. Each time Mars first appears in the Eastern sky before dawn, he is dimmer to our eyes than at any other time in his visible cycle. Yet it’s this very moment of Mars’  heliacal rise that imprints the entire cycle with the sign Mars occupies. What are we to make of this? Adam explores this themes of the new Mars Cycle through the Red Planet’s Sky Factors at this moment of first reveal alongside his chart factors of sign and aspects.

Gary’s presentation focuses on the loop Mars will make during his two month retrograde in the summer of 2018. Mars makes 8 different loop shapes depending on where the Rx is in relation to his Nodes. However, Mars does NOT trace all of these loops at equal intervals because of its eccentric orbit (more like a paperclip than a circle). Mars retrogrades happen much less frequently when near his perihelion (currently 6° Pisces), because Mars is moving so much faster when closer to his gravitational center, the Sun. This means that Mars Rx in Aquarius and Pisces (perihelion/fast) are less than half as frequent as those in Leo, Virgo or Libra (apihelion/slow).

The retrograde loop for this new Mars cycle is therefore one of the rarer ones; not only that, in 2018 Mars achieves what astronomers call “perihelic opposition,” meaning that perigee (Sun opposite Mars from Earth) and perihelion (Mars closest approach to the Sun) happen near the same time, and this brings Mars closer and brighter than it has been since 2003!

Julene continues with the Shakti Power of the Nakshatras and how to incorporate them into the visual cycles of the planets. She discusses the Sun-Mars conjunction in Pushya and Mars’ travel through Ashlesha to his helical rise in Magha.  In our last webinar, we saw that Mercury’s inferior conjunction, direct station and first appearance all occurred in Magha Nakshatra — along with the recent solar eclipse. As Mars makes his first appearance in Magha, he carries with him the Shakti Power of the seed moment in Pushya Nakshatra and influence from Ashlesha. Julene illustrates the Shakti Power of these three Nakshatras as the divine feminine energy available to all of us through the imprint of this Mars cycle.
